Who I Am: Dwayne O'neill Parish. Afro-Native American, born May 25, 1956 on Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, CA. Where I've Been: Alcoholic-addict, divorcee, lost brothers to both gangland violence and AIDS, cancer survivor, mental health service consumer. Where I Am: Sober 17 years, clean of crack-addiction 12 years, cancer survivor now 12 years, self-weaned from anti-depressants about 3 years. I receive SSDI and work part-time distributing materials for Bay Area events and volunteering for worthy causes. Where I'm Going and Why: It is my loftiest aspiration to facilitate the tapping of our highest potential for the greatest good of us all. I feel like Mr. Statistic. I have been visited upon by modern societies gloomiest woes. I went from, "why me.." to "how can I help the similarly afflicted?" These things didn't happen to me but for me so I could serve in these areas. What else could I come up with? I've been put through a basic training of sorts and I embrace my hardships and challenges. This was the birth of "chamillionaire mentality." a chameleon can't change the color of the rock it's sitting on but acknowledges the environment & adjusts itself from within to adapt.
